Accelerate value creation in Europe in smart systems

Let’s make things happen!

COWIN organised the first COWIN workshop on “Accelerating value creation in Smart Systems in Europe” on 21st November 2012 at the European Commission in Brussels.

The workshop gathered the different innovation stakeholders in Europe: entrepreneurs, industrial players and private investors. It has been a great opportunity to showcase the “Gold Nuggets” technologies extracted from successful FP6 and FP7 projects in the ICT area and to provide projects holders with concrete support for exploitation opportunities from industrial players point of view.

As a pioneer initiative, this event aimed at initiating the dialogue with private investors in order to bridge the gap from public to private financing. A debate involving key representatives of European Venture Capitals funds allowed the audience to understand the role of private investors in supporting innovative companies as well as the challenges to increase value creation from technology oriented companies.

The COWIN workshop’s outcomes led to the setup of an actions plan that will be handled by a working group, coordinated by COWIN, with the key players of the innovation stakeholders. The main objectives of the working group are to validate these proposed solutions by implementing them during the coming year.
